Fall is upon us. It seems to always be the shortest season in the city, but it’s my favorite. It’s such a great time for menswear as you can build so many looks with textures and layers. I had fun with this preppy outfit that’s perfect for these transitional fall weeks. With their collegiate-inspired collection, Polo U, Polo Ralph Lauren has totally nailed the sophisticated Ivy league prep – while still managing to have a little fun with it. I love these classic pieces and wanted to showcase how I’m layering this season.
The base of this outfit is the Classic Fit Rugby Hoodie. With rugby-inspired elements such as an embroidered crest and rugby number, it’s a stand-out look. I love the contrast of the stripes running down the arm as well as the striped detailing along the placket. Over the hoodie, I threw on a beautiful Embroidered Corduroy Jacket that is a cross between a letterman jacket and bomber. Layering a hoodie underneath a jacket or trench is a great and comfortable way to dress-down any look and keep it casual. Try mixing textures like I’ve done here or played with layering and contrasting colors for a simple and interesting look!

Completing the look, I’m wearing the Relaxed Fit Pleated Chinos, which are your perfect base pant. They’re a classic and go with everything you already have in your closet. These high-waist pants feature a crisp pleat that leaves no room for apologies. With the textures and embroidery on the coat, I like keeping it simple with these khaki pants.
