Simple, modern, and timeless. That’s how I’d describe the pieces from Los Angeles-based menswear brand, Arcady. They’re one of my new favorites hailing from the west coast as they’ve proven to master modernized staples. Inspired by Arcady’s elevated staples and the shadier side to California, this moody shoot was one of my favorites to date. Serving you some all-black in the dead of summer is a different look for me, but I felt like it fit with the attitude that comes with the clothing. And I love that about apparel and fashion – how a piece of clothing can boost your confidence or make you project a certain feeling. You are playing ‘dress-up’ every day, after all!
The shirt is Arcady’s Mandarin Collar featuring a band collar and Japanese stretch cotton. The cotton has a little spandex (5%) that gives it a great feel and flexibility. It’s extremely simple with covered buttons down the front and a shaped hemline. I tucked in the shirt for this look, but will probably wear it untucked. Mandarin collars are quickly becoming some of my favorite variation of shirts. I find them so versatile and easy to rock – I like to roll up the sleeves and pair them with shorts or throw on a sport coat for a dressy alternative. The Standard Pant is just that. Straight leg cut featuring a zipper fly and like the Mandarin Collar, this piece has a bit of stretch to it.
And be sure to check out this little video lookbook above! I love the idea of adding a video element to posts like this. It really gives the whole look context and personality, plus rounds out the experience with motion and music. Tyler killed it! I’m going to start incorporating these into more posts, so be on the lookout! I may have been sweating in this Cashmere Knit Sweater from Arcady, but I was so excited to get my hands on this chunky knit turtleneck. I had the pleasure of meeting the rad dudes behind Arcady a few months ago and got to peek at their collection and some upcoming pieces, including this! I gravitated to the sweater because the color is so striking – it’s a dark blue-green with beautiful detailing when you look closely. When I picked up the garment, I rolled my eyes… or my eyes rolled into the back of my head. This is simply one of the softest and coziest cashmere items I’ve held or worn. I also love the exaggerated role of the turtleneck, so fun and will definitely keep you warmer on cooler days. The Turtleneck isn’t available yet, but I’ll keep y’all posted on when it is! My shoes are Guess’ Jence Chukka Boot. These kicks are super-lightweight and a great summer boot. I really dig these boots and love that they continue the all-black theme with their foam sole.
