Somehow, it’s already Labor Day Weekend. Summer is basically over and gone. For most kids living in their prime, school has just started and syllabus week is coming to a close. Before jumping headfirst into fall fashion, we’re going to pause with some simple back-to-school inspired outfits.
High School Hero! It’s a pretty basic look, but each one of these items is staples in your closet. This navy gingham button-down is casual and I’ll almost always wear it with its sleeves rolled up. I’ll be pairing it with black jeans and olive khakis in just a few months, but for now, I’m rocking a 7″ navy chino short while I can. I’m always cautious when wearing predominately one color (I don’t enjoy looking like a blueberry!), but pairing a solid with a subtle design or print generally works for me. With this outfit, the color accent comes with the New Balance sneakers – a mossy green but still carries that navy through the outfit. The backpack pictured is The No. 5 Backpack from my friends at Proper Assembly!

This second look is still a very casual and playful look, but a little rougher around the edges. But it’s an outfit I really dig. The Levis jean jacket adds a nice denim layer and breaks up the horizontal stripes from the Vince tee. These are paired with bonobos 7″ chinos as well. I found I wear the stone grey shorts much more often than I imagined I would at first, they happen to go with just about everything in my closet. I’m rocking an alternative to Converse’s high-top chuck.. the classic PJ Cruisers, which might be the most comfortable pair of shoes I own. period. They’re my go-to music fest sneaker since there’s a lot of walking around & standing, but great for putting around town too.
Stay Risky,
-John
