In Chicago, spring is a transitional season that lasts about 3 weeks. One week the trees are barren, the next they budding and by mid-May, the city is once again alive with color – and some heat! It’s time to retire those layers and coats and grab for those swim trunks — finally! Here’s an elevated but casual spring style that’ll be sporting this season.
This look is a great example of an elevated – but casual – summer outfit. One of my favorite spring and summer staples is the Riviera Shirt from Bonobos. It’s a short sleeve button down (SSBD) that comes in a multitude of fabrics, bold prints, and patterns. I’m sporting the Riviera Shirt in the Blue Chambray Dot style – it’s a simple SSBD with some nice detailing with the microdots to keep it interesting. As with most products from Bonobos, the fit is incredible and although you can’t get the garment custom fit, you can tailor the size, fit and length of the shirts and find your perfect fit. My sizing is a medium and as far as fit goes, I prefer my button-downs to not be too boxy so I went with the slim fit and regular length. I love the options to alter the length of the garment, and that I can keep it trim in the mid-section. This style will work great for so much of the spring and summer. To the lake, bopping around town, working from home – this shirt can be worn anywhere as it’s so versatile. I’ve selected a few more styles of the Riviera shirt that I love – they offer over 65 different variations! Here are some of my favorite styles of the Riviera Shirt:
As y’all know by now, I’m a fan of everything linen. I truly think it’s my favorite fabric – it’s light, breathable, and what I’ll be wearing all summer. I fell in love with these Linen Trousers online from Bonobos and again, the fit is fabulous. I didn’t have to get these pants taken-in or hemmed at all, and they fit like a glove. I paired this look with the Yarn Spun Crew Neck White Tee, a basic that every guy should have in his closet.
