Nordstrom has a stellar selection of designer collections and brands. I figured these artful collections needed to be showcased somewhere equally as beautiful and inspiring ~ enter the Modern Wing of the Chicago’s Art Institute.
This first look is very my aesthetic. Clean, simple, not very flashy – and comfortable. The hero piece is the Zip Pullover from The Kooples. It’s a slim-fit knit that features a subtle waffle design and large metallic zippers on each shoulder. One unintended advantage that I love about the zippers is that I was able to throw this on without messing up my hair. Sad, but true. I paired it with the Parker Short, a seersucker navy short from Bonobos. I started rocking Bonobos a while ago and will wear their shorts and pants whenever I can. Their fit is just perfect for me… and they know how to have fun with variety. While this look is polished and somewhat plain, I let the textures of the pullover and shorts speak a little louder by allowing the textures to be front & center with this outfit.

Blue is just my color. I always try to branch out, but my closet still consists of 70% blue. Kinda like the earth.. or the human body. Okay, my closet is not that that prolific.. but you get the idea. This outfit took me back to 1950s Palm Springs ~ I love this vibe. The Farris Polo from Rag & Bone is a super-comfy short sleeve that can be dressed up or down. It’s perfect for spring and summer, and while it could be a classy look for the pool..it could also double at a great summer cocktail party look. I really like the tapered sleeves and waistline as well as the ribbon-trimmed placket. The shorts are Bonobos’ Chambray Parker Short and paired them with blue loafers for that comfortable but classy look. The only thing that would complete this look is some Classic Clubmaster shades from Rayban and a Palm Springs pool.

This final look is pretty simple as well, and of course blue. The Merino Wool sweater is from Norse Project and I think this was my first time to rock a mock turtleneck. It’s kinda perfect. It offers a little protection on the neck ~ maybe as much as a button-down, and forfeits the ‘choking’ turtleneck look. Be on the lookout next fall, I have a feeling I’m going to be sporting a few of these. I paired the sweater with some simple black jeans and suede Chelsea boots. It’s a look that works as a stand-alone, or with a hero-jacket.. could be something bright or “loud.” While it’s a flexible outfit and bottom-line comfortable, this look is right up my alley.
