Fall is in full swing here in Chicago, and if the cool air doesn’t convince you, all you have to do is look at the trees. It’s a little window of the fall season, only about a week or so, but it’s my favorite part of the year. That pre-winter wind-up. A layer or two is all you need to get you through the day, and you can have fun with it before your big parka covers all your great layers. I try and be outside as much as I can during this time. I love jogging in the brisk air and will try and shoot outside as much as I can as the days are getting shorter & shorter. This layered look is a favorite and just screams ‘FALL.’ It features the bold Wool-Blend Sherpa-Lined Shirt with down jacket and henley. The jacket is a fall finds from Old Navy and features an all-over buffalo pattern with a sherpa spread collar and snap-close cuffs. The sherpa lining doesn’t just stop at the collar – the whole jacket is actually linked with super soft wool. It’s a perfect top layer for these transitional fall months. I paired them with a blue pant, but will probably end up wearing them with grey or black denim.

Just under that, I’m keeping warm with Old Navy’s Narrow-Channel Down Jacket. This is a pretty nifty down jacket that’s a simple and light layer. It’s super soft on the inside as it has a plush Micro Performance fleece lining. It’s as lightweight as it is effective, and zips all the way up to the chin, which I’ll be of use in the coming months. The jacket is also packable, meaning the whole jacket can be packed down and converted into one of the interior pockets ~ making it the perfect travel companion for hiking or cooler climates. This mustard yellow color is very ‘in,’ but it’s the first piece I have the color in. I was afraid it might be too loud, but it’s great as a stand-alone piece too!
Here are some other great fall selections for layering up.
