A little over a month in NYC and I really have hit the ground running. Meetings and events, brunches and dancing – it’s been a slight adjustment getting used to the non-stop action of NYC. The city really doesn’t stop for anyone or anything.. and just about every day I catch myself saying: “how is it already 4pm?!” I definitely feel like I’m where I need to be though, and that is what is comforting me – New York is for the movers & the shakers.
I like a busy calendar and having to schedule down every coffee meeting and event. Busy is good, but busy should never be an excuse. I really try to make it a point to stay busy, but also to not talk about it like that’s all I’ve been doing – we’re all busy! More than ever my closet has become a closet of versatility. If a jacket or pair of shoes only serves one function or style, it’s got no place in my apartment. With as much bopping around the city as I find myself doing, I really need pieces that I can wear to a meeting, darting across town in and grab drinks with friends in after. When it comes to shoes, it’s hard to find a stylish shoe that isn’t going to kill your feet in the process, and the comfortable ones look like slides or sneakers.
The shoes I’m rocking are such a staple. They’re appropriately named “The Mover” from Kenneth Cole and they’re the epitome of versatility. These leather lace-ups have a glossy leather upper that resembles something you might wear to a black-tie event. It’s simple and breathable with a collar cushion along the heel for some extra padding around the ankle. The bouncy rubber sole makes this shoe easy to dress down as well. They’re super light-weight too – since the sole is chunky I was expecting the shoe to be pretty heavy – but they are light on the feet and won’t drag you down! Below are some other great shoe options from Kenneth Cole that are equally as stylish and comfortable!
