I’m going to be focusing on suits this week and excited to be experimenting more with them personally. I’ve grown up with the notion that wearing a suit was a dreaded formality – a cousin’s wedding, a funeral, or holiday. Since I work from home – I’ve never been inclined to grab for a suit ‘just because’. I’m starting to re-think that.
I believe in dressing well, and that fashion can change perceptions about you – it’s a projection to others. Dressing-up can also help convince you to elevate yourself. It’s like wearing a suit to take a test in college – something that my friends and I actually tested Freshman year…and It actually worked. You can never be over-dressed.
The suit I’m outfitted in is REISS’ Modern Fit Suit in Grey. This suit really caught my eye for the cut and checked fabrication. It’s also 100% wool and will be a perfect suit leading into and through winter. The modern, tapered fit me like a glove – I’m 6’ and wearing a size 38. Even with the trim fit, I was able to move around quite nicely in the suit. Not that I’m trying to do acrobatics in a suit & tie, but I’m reverted to feeling like my five-year-old self dressed for Easter Sunday with a tight collar and a restricted suit. I like to be able to move around, and a suit that flows with me.
A white dress shirt would work very well with this suit and give a crisp and clean look. I ended up pairing the suit with a soft blue Slim-fit shirt to add a subtle pop of color. The cotton shirt has a great foundation and cut. It features darting down the back to give you a more tailored look – and no unnecessary bunching up! There’s also a great placket over the shoulders for an interesting cut that would also make this shirt look great if you take the blazer off – or worn alone!
I added a black Textured Silk Tie with some black Tumbled Leather Sneakers to complete this look. I really loved the vibes of this outfit and how it turned out.
