I’ve been in Chicago for six years now, and have mostly been getting around around the same way – Uber. It’s been such a perfect fit for my lifestyle and city-living. Well just when I thought it couldn’t get any sweeter, Uber has introduced new ride options… and they don’t involve riding in cars. Their newest product is the Electric JUMP bikes!
Okay, so I was super excited when I heard this news and to ride one. Over the past few years, Chicago (and so many cities!) has become more accommodating to bikers, added biking lanes, and being bike-conscious. Uber has constantly been evolving its products from uberX, then uberXL, uberPOOL, and now the Electric JUMP Bikes! They were added to Uber’s arsenal to make the platform more accessible to everyone.
The electric JUMP Bikes POP with a neon red and are quite easy to spot along the street. They feature a built–in basket and cup holder (which I found super-convenient), adjustable seat, and they’re surprisingly light!
Here’s the lowdown on how Uber’s Electric JUMP Bikes work. You open up your Uber app and in the menu select ‘BIKE’ to see where the nearest one to you is. When you find one, you can reserve it for up to 30 minutes (which I did, just in case!). When you arrive at the JUMP bike, you’ll input a 4-digit pin number into the number pad on the back wheel. It unlocks the lock on the side and you start riding! Y’all, this is FUN. I had never ridden an electric bike before.. and I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to ride a normal bike again! As you pedal, the bike gently pushes itself and makes riding a literal breeze. You can get up to 20mph on these bad boys!
The Electric JUMP bikes are such a fun and affordable option. It’s just $2 for 30 minutes, then every minute after that it’s prorated. It’s so great to mix-up my routine and city experience by adding the JUMP Bike into the mix.
As it’s summer in the city, there’s no better time to get out there and ride!
Stay Risky,
