Towards the end of June, I had the opportunity to head to Montauk, New York with GQ + Canvas by Land’s End for some surfing action and beach time with an amazing gang!
We traveled in style as we met for some pre-game mimosas and took the BLADE Seaplane from Manhattan to Montauk – at the northern-most tip of The Hamptons. I had never flown by sea plan, and it was pretty crazy taking off on the water. The views of Manhattan were unbelievable – we were so close to buildings and the city. The weekend was spent at the Gurney’s, a luxury resort and Montauk staple. Shout-out to the breakfast buffet at Gurney’s. We destroyed it and it was one of the yummiest brunches!
The last time I had surfed was maybe twelve years ago, and to say I was rusty might be an understatement. But damn! I don’t think I was expecting such a good full-body workout – but I was beyond sore the next day. The kind of sore in areas you didn’t know muscle existed. It was such a blast though and I got up and was riding waves after a few tries. True Johnny Tsunami style.
That night we enjoyed cocktails and an amazing surf & turf dinner at the trendy Surf Lodge, a beautiful bar and restaurant that is a must-go whenever in Montauk. Thanks so much to Canvas by Land’s end for outfitting us in their awesome new line and to GQ for the unforgettable experience!
