I don’t know why, but I typically reject the idea of “working for the weekend”. I think that you really have to make the most of your life, and by doing you, you’re submitting the majority of your life to something (or someone) that you don’t love for 5 days and saying I’ll take these 2 free days as compensation. Maybe I need to expand on this a little more, but that’ll be for another blog post and another time. In that same vein, a “winter body” doesn’t have to come with colder weather just because you’re going to be wearing layers and tempted by holiday foods. I really do believe in maintaining good shape year-round. I think we are wired to reward ourselves for being “good.” We forfeit the holiday times as a free-for-all and excuse to slack off or be bad. RESIST! I’m not saying you can’t enjoy yourself while celebrating the holidays, I’m just saying indulge in moderation!
Here are some tips and ways that I’m going to resist letting the holidays interfere with my
- Stick to your routine as best you can – business as usual!
- Exercise – or at least break a sweat – every day. and in the morning!
- If you’re feeling unmotivated, sign up for a class workout
- Find a workout buddy or accountabil-a-buddy!
- Don’t let the cold deter you from workout out outside – bundle up!
- and Indulge, with moderation.
This outfit is head-to-toe from Reebok! The shoes are a casual streetwear-inspired sneaker, Reebok’s Sole Fury. They’re pretty lightweight as they have a thin foam sock liner and a stable foam tread. They pay homage to 90s running shoes and have great support. The shoe does run small, so I’d advise you to order a size up! I’ve got a plain white tee is the Workout Ready Tech Tee and is perfect as a trim-cut workout shirt. It’s super-soft, breathable, and simple – just like I like my athletic tees! I paired them with Reebok’s Epic Lightweight Shorts in red. They’re also super light and feature a 10″ inseam, which is longer than most running shorts I have, but I’ll take the extra inches of fabric in the winter! For a top layer, I’m wearing the Foundation Windbreaker – a vintage style zip windbreaker.
