Those Winter Blues

With six winters under my belt, I’ve learned a few things along the way about how to survive and get through the cold & dreary Chicago winters. Here’s how I’m powering through Chicago winters & layering with winter’s blues. These chilly months after the holidays can start to feel quite dragged out by the bleak winter days where overcast is the norm and below-freezing is typical. There isn’t too much to look forward to as spring seems miles away and isn’t necessarily guaranteed in April or even the beginning of May! I like to set up incentives for myself to distract my mind by staying active and filling my days with activities with friends

Here’s how I power through the winters:

1. Get a sweat in – I really try and to stick to a regular workout routine. Also, don’t forget summer bodies are made in the winter.
2. Go to a concert or live show – My last two concerts were Dua Lipa & MØ!
3. Cook More – With so much time on your hands, do some meal prep for the week or have friends over for wine and cooking!
4. Trivia Nights – So many bars in Chicago offer fun trivia nights on weekdays. My favorite is at State in Lincoln Park!
5. Get outta here! – Plan a trip in February or March to give yourself something to look forward to & break up the dragging months.

A mantra for me in the winter: if you can’t beat ’em, dress like them! My get up is nearly all from Old Navy and highlighting all those winter blues & hues.
