Function is essential to men’s style. If I can find a piece that will transform and create multiple looks – chances are I’m going to be living in it. This winter, I found a trench from Vince that has been the perfect layer. It’s formal and versatile and I have worn it nearly every day since I got it.
Vince’s Storm Coat is a wool Melton coat that features a removable hooded storm guard panel. This was added for additional weather protection, but it also serves a versatile style purpose. For a more casual and urban look, I like to keep the hood panel in. I’ve styled it with a classic grey henley from Public Rec and a pair of New Balance 247s for a relaxed and sporty look. This is pretty much my comfortable day-to-day look that you’ll find my working from a coffee shop or heading to the gym in.
I got a sneak(er) preview of New Balance’s newest sneaker, the 247 Sport. These lightweight shoes are ready to wear any time of the day or night. They feature a mesh top with a neoprene bootie so they can slip off & on. I’ve been rocking these Olive 247s pretty frequently, and they’re such a great shoe. They’re sleek and minimal, lightweight and sporty. The 247s come in 4 colors: Orange, Navy, Black, Olive — I’m probably going to have to grab them in all-black as well. They’ll be available for purchase this Saturday, February 4th!
Here are my alternative and more dressed-up look sporting the Storm Coat. It’s still a relatively casual, but a more polished and formal get-up. I swapped out my henley for a simple and wool sweater – this is a staple piece that every guy should have in their closet! I traded in my sport sneakers for a pair of suede Chelsea Boot. These really pull the outfit together and since it’s such a neutral look, they really pop and draw the eye to your shoes.
Stay Risky,
– John
