Lately, I’ve found that my laundry hamper has been a consistent pile of workout clothes. This is a good-bad problem. It means I’m working out and staying active, but that I’m also in need of some new gear to avoid running so low. I had a one-stop-shopping-spree at Nordstrom this week and did some damage on some spring athletic wear. I always try to branch out and get some different brands or bolder designs.. but I stayed pretty safe, and one of my looks ended up being all-black *sigh*. That doesn’t mean I’m not excited about it though! New threads are always a breath of fresh air to the closet and it’s nice to switch up the wardrobe. I try to stay pretty good about sticking to a one-in, one-out policy by not buying any new clothing unless I need it. But honestly, these were all additions to the closet, since I was running a little low!
This all-black look just happened to be head-to-toe Nike, and it’s something I’d wear 3/4 of the year. It’s a pretty standard workout get-up for me. I’ve included a light layer, a Nike Dri-Fit Quarter-Zip, that is a great weight even though I’ll probably remove it the first five minutes into my workout. It features reflective strips on the arm, as well as thumb-holes, which I’ve found I *need* on long sleeve layers like this. My jump rope is no a typical jump rope… it’s a Speed Rope from RPM Fitness. It’s so great as it’s my newest addition to my suitcase at it’s super-light and the perfect

This is a fun 90s-inspired look with a 2017 twist. Off the bat, the Nike Windrunner Colorblock Jacket steals the show. It’s so unapologetically 90s with its bold color blocking and design. It’s a great spring jacket weight with baby blues and bright white. It was actually super-windy the day we shot for this post, and it did a surprisingly great job of cutting the wind. I paired the jacket with a blue Under Armour shirt that has a slight v-neck. Although I do love the jacket, the Reigning Champ Heavyweight Terry Sweatpants just might take the cake on this outfit. They’re tapered sweatpants with a dropped crotch and cuffed at the ankle for an updated fit. They’ve got a great weight to them as they’re heavy but quite breathable ~ and so-dang comfortable! I paired them with these sweet Free Run Nike Flyknits as they. These are my first pair of the “bootie” type of running shoe that has become pretty popular lately, and they fit like a glove. They were a little claustrophobic at first, but after one run in them, my feet were used to the flexible “sock” feel. Shop this look, too:
It was so fun getting to shoot with Ali, who I just was within Akumal, Mexico last week! She’s an amazing photographer and y’all should check out her blog, Those White Walls. I haven’t really been adding full-workouts or training tips into these fitness apparel posts, but is that something y’all would be interested in? Let me know – I’m definitely working on building out the fitness + health areas of Risky Jackal and would love to hear y’all’s input!
Stay Risky,
