This summer I’ve partnered with Malibu Rum to help kick-off their summer celebrations, and I’ll tell ya – it certainly started with a bang! I was spontaneously invited to attend a pop-up in New York City on a Wednesday night… so I packed my bags and headed to NYC for an impromptu night with Malibu, #BecauseSummer.
Malibu Rum is encouraging everyone to embrace uncertainty and to live it up this summer – to treating every day like it’s the weekend. I love this! So they figured we’ve got 101 days to celebrate summer. The party was at the Sixty Hotel in Manhattan’s Lower East Side at the tiki-themed bar Tiki Tabu. If the bar didn’t scream “SUMMER” already, Malibu certainly brought the beach to the boroughs. The view from the event was gorgeous, and I loved feeling like we were on a beach in the middle of the city.
There was summer swag, cocktails in coconuts, tattoo stations, a palm tree photo booth, surfboards, and of course… all the rum Jack Sparrow could ever need. There were five signature cocktails, from Mai Tais, Summer Coolers to Piña Coladas, I’m proud to say I tried them all. My favorite might have been the Pink Domingo with Malibu & Watermelon ~ two flavors I had never thought of together! Just as I thought the night couldn’t get any more epic, the surprise guest came out — Snakehips! It was awesome, they played a whole DJ set which was Kanye-heavy and ended with some of their biggest hits, ‘Don’t Leave’ and ‘All My Friends’! It was such a great way to close the night as we were all dancing with our coconut cocktails in hand. The Malibu Rum Beach House will be pop-ing up at so many music festivals this summer (Firefly, Stagecoach and Hangout to name a few), so let me know if you’re going to be going to any!
