Lately, I’ve been incorporating quite a bit of HIIT (high-intensity interval training) workouts into my weekly cardio. HIIT workouts have become increasingly popular as they boost your metabolism and burn more fat than conventional cardio. I’m going to be sharing two of my HITT workouts over the next few weeks, and the perfect pieces to perform these high-intensity workouts in. I’m wearing head-to-toe lulu lemon, and love these three garments for a HITT workout in the park. Lately, as the weather has been getting warmer I’ve been going to the track at Montrose Harbor, right next to Cricket Hill (pictured behind me). My outfit is pretty standard in terms of athletic apparel: running shorts, a lightweight shirt, and a thin layer on top. But each of these pieces is much more technical and great for a workout like HIIT. The Rise ‘N Sweat Short is an 8″ ultra-light short. The shorts were inspired by agility workout movements (like box jumps) and the knit fabric panels give you ample room to move. I love how deep the pockets are ~ honestly a deal-breaker for most athletic shorts. On top, I’m rocking the Rise ‘N Sweat Long Sleeve with the Somatic Short Sleeve underneath. The hoodie is an interesting piece. It’s an ultra-light 3/4 zip and kangaroo pockets. I don’t typically wear long sleeves in the Chicago summer, but since it’s so light It’s a perfect layer. I love the color + subtle pattern of the Somatic tee. It’s a heathered Indochine blue & black with a very subtle horizontal striping. Shop the look:
Here’s a workout I’ve compiled and it’s a combination of a couple of HIIT workouts I liked. Complete the following circuit 4 times resting in 1-minute intervals between each round.
HIIT Workout:
- High Knees (1-min)
- Jumping Jacks (45 reps)
- Toe Taps (20 on each side)
- Lunge Step-ups (20 on each side)
- Plank Leg Raises (15 on each side)
- Mountain Climbers (1-minute)
- Plank Jacks (1-minute)
As I’m focusing on the fitness section of the site, let me know if you complete this workout. I’d love to know your thoughts on a HIIT workout!
Stay Risky,
– John
